About 160 km on the A104 through Naivasha. The escarpment descent is the part we plan around — sustained braking and gradient on a heavy load, so the instrument is braced for lateral movement rather than just padded. Two to four working days door to door from confirmed payment, with a settling tuning arranged once the piano has been in the room a couple of weeks.

Nakuru sits at around 1,850 m in a drier part of the Rift Valley. Dryness is gentler on a piano than coastal humidity, but it has its own effect: very dry air shrinks wooden components, which can loosen tuning pin fit over years and, in extreme cases, open cracks in a soundboard. In practice a Nakuru piano is stable and easy to look after — two tunings a year is normally right, and we will flag it if a particular instrument would prefer some humidity control.
