We move pianos across Nairobi with our own team rather than a general courier, because the damage in a city move almost never happens on the road — it happens on stairs, in lifts and through doorways. We ask about floor level, lift dimensions and stair turns before the day, and we bring the right trolley and straps for the job. Uprights usually take one to two working days from confirmed payment; grands need a little more planning because the legs and lyre come off for the move.
Nairobi sits at roughly 1,795 m, and the swing between the dry months and the long rains is the thing that moves a piano out of tune. Soundboards take up moisture and give it back, and pitch follows. It is a mild place to own a piano compared with the coast, but it is not a neutral one — most instruments here settle best on two tunings a year, and we schedule the first one after the piano has spent a few weeks in your room rather than on the day it lands.
